"Watershed" / "Pedshed" confusion?
Something may have gone wrong with the urban planning lexicon. The term "pedshed" has been invented to describe the walkable area around a place or facility. The "ped" bit refers to pedestrian, and the "shed bit alludes to "watershed". However, a watershed is a line, not an area. The Concise Oxford Dictionary for example gives the definitionof watershed as: 1. A line of separation between waters flowing to different rivers, basins or seas. 2. A turning point in affairs
