Walking in Towns and Cities
Tim Pharoah was advisor to House of Commons Select Committee on Environment, Transport and Regional Affairs, Inquiry into Walking, 2001.
The report can be found here (opens in new tab).
Tim Pharoah also (at his own expense!) accompanied MPs of the Select Committee on their tour of European towns and cities to study policies for walking. Of the places visited, Barcelona probably had the best-developed data and policies for the promotion of walking as a mode of travel. (Other places visited were Milan, Munich, Bologna and Ferrara.) A brief summary from the study tour can be found in the pdf to the right.
