Newtownards town centre development framework

The town centre suffered from domination of public realm and spaces by parked and moving vehicles. Investment in transport was also dominated by roads and parking. Public transport access was poor. Walking conditions were poor quality. Cycling was at a low level despite the flat terrain, and the road conditions would be unattractive to cyclists, with frequent roundabouts and little if any special provision.

The masterplan aimed to tackle some of these issues. The report from 2010 can be downloaded here, see right.
