Transport in Westminster

This report (contributed by Tim Pharoah for the City Council) was the first comprehensive examination of transport in Westminster. It describes the situation in the early 1970s, in terms of the difficulties which people experienced in getting about, and the causes of dissatisfaction. It examines what was being and what could be done to bring about improvements.

It looks at all aspects of movement: public and private transport; walking; cycling; and the transport and delivery of goods. It pays particular attention to the problems of public transport operation, and also the conflict between traffic and the quality of the environment.
